A positive team, Chris and Amy Jo Duzan are making their mark at National Agents Alliance. Chris Duzan was born and raised in Grand Rapids, Michigan. He graduated from Diesel Mechanic School, attended junior college, and finished at the Navy Avionics School working as an AT on the EA-6B Prowlers. Amy Jo Duzan was raised in Chaska, Minnesota. She received her Bachelor of Science in Marketing and Managing with a speech minor in 1990 from Mankato State University, which is now Minnesota State University.
Chris and Amy Jo met on Thanksgiving Day in 1990. Two years later they married. However, they didn't spend much of their first year together as Chris was gone for nine months with the Navy. Amy Jo worked in a bank as a teller/loan processor during this time.
Chris and Amy Jo then moved to Arizona for 6 months and hated it; Chris was then offered in the insurance business so they moved to Michigan.
Chris floated jobs in insurance, manufacturing maintenance, and real estate. About ready to give up on insurance for good, they received a call from Barry Clarkson explaining a new opportunity. They then joined NAA six months after it began.
Chris attended his first NAA Leadership Conference with peanut butter and snacks. He drove through a snow storm to get there. After Leadership, Chris saw the big picture, and He and Amy Jo have not missed a conference since!
"One function we drove with three agents and we lost the transmission in the van about 50 miles from the playground build," Chris said, referring to the 2006 Leadership event that included the building of a playground for the Salvation Army Boys and Girls Club. "Thankfully, we have friends, and Joyce Sally drove to pick us up. We made it to the playground build which was something I will never forget. We had to deal with the van, but we never missed a speaker that entire weekend."
Chris and Amy Jo work together as a team, Chris goes out in the field and Amy Jo runs the office duties, hires staff, processes business and recruits.
They credit NAA with improving their lives through association with great people. "These are the most professional people I have ever been around," Chris said. "Unlike the business I was in before, I now have a REAL Opportunity with REAL Money that comes with it. NAA money has afforded our children to go to a private Christian School that is rated one of the best in the state of Michigan. Amy Jo and I are better parents. We have the equipment to teach our four children the right way to go." Chris and Amy Jo advise new agents to plug in, go early to meetings, stay late and sit in the front! "Get to know your team, work hard and smart, read and develop to be the best you can be."
Chris and Amy Jo have four children, Alec, Ethan, Kelly Jo, and Elyse Grace. Their family has two gold fish and two cats. The Duzan family enjoys spending time at the track where their children ride their motorcycles. They also enjoy trips to the beach and camping.
"What keeps us going is the desire to make a positive impact on our family," Chris said. "To help change people's lives from one of quiet desperation to one of inspiration. We want to make a positive impact on as many people as we can. When you can help enough people get what they want, you can have everything that you desire and only dream about having. The ability to be able to take care of our children's children one day keeps me going. We are building a legacy for them by impacting thousands of lives across America."
Chris and Amy Jo want to someday fund a building for their children's school separate from the church building they are attached to now.
"We want to help as many families as we can to reach whatever goals they have set," Chris said. "Know that if you work hard, you'll become a leader: if you're lazy, you'll become a slave (Proverbs 12:24). We are blessed to know and have friends in this business. Anyone looking at the opportunity should take it.
"We look forward to the future. We know it will be a great adventure!"
